Spiced Pear Homemade Granola
November 6, 2020
As this Spiced Pear Granola bakes it fills the house with the delicious smell of the holidays. Toasted pecans, subtle pear, cinnamon and nutmeg, this is the perfect healthy breakfast option for the festive season!
With the holidays just around the corner I’ve started to get excited about holiday baking and all the festive food made around this time of year. Is it too early? Some might say it’s too early buuuut technically the grocery stores start stocking Christmas goodies the second Halloween is over so I think I’m in the clear.
It’s easy to get carried away with all the festive food which is why it’s a great idea to have some healthy foods stocked up for easy healthy meals in between. One of my favourites is this Spiced Pear Granola. It’s filled with those familiar holiday baking spices so it still feels like you’re indulging in the holiday spirit without all the extra calories!
Homemade granola is great to have on hand because it can be a healthy breakfast for the mornings when you want something easy or a healthy snack during the day with some yoghurt. Plus you made it from scratch so you know exactly what’s in it unlike some store-bought versions.
For this recipe and really any granola you make yourself you want to make sure you’re using whole rolled oats, not the instant ones which are cut much too small.
To make sure this is a healthy granola recipe I’ve kept the amount of added sugar and excess ingredients to a minimum, therefore you won’t end up big chunky clumps or clusters like some granolas, this is more of a toasted muesli style of granola which is great for adding as a topping to yoghurt or smoothie bowls, I even just have mine as cereal in the mornings.
It’s about this time of year I think about what gifts I’m going to get friends and family for Christmas. I believe one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give someone is something that was made by you, they’ll appreciate that you put the time and effort into making something for them, something like this homemade granola for example! Food gifts like granola are inexpensive gift options and you can make them look really cute by using glass jars and wrapping a ribbon around the top with a decorative tag.
Weather you make it as a gift or just for a healthy breakfast option during the holidays I hope you enjoy this Spiced Pear Homemade Granola recipe!
